Employee Spotlight: Nate Wolf, Mission Planning Lead for the Triton Program

In this month’s employee spotlight, we feature Nate Wolf, ASEC’s Mission Planning Lead for the Triton program. Nate leads a team responsible for writing operational mission plans for the fleet, supporting VUP-19, VP-30, and PMA-262. Having started as an analyst for various P-8 projects, Nate’s journey has brought him to Jacksonville, where he continues to leverage his extensive Navy flight experience. His dedication to ASEC’s core values and the close-knit culture reflect his loyalty to both the company and the warfighter, ensuring mission success at every turn.

My name is Nate Wolf, I have been with ASEC for 11 years now. I work as the Mission Planning Lead for Triton, supporting VUP-19, VP-30 (Triton FIT), and PMA-262. Our team writes all operational mission plans for the fleet. We have missions in 4 main areas of the world: INCONUS, 6th Fleet AOR, 7th Fleet AOR, and now 5th Fleet is now standing up this month. I also manage the PMA 262 task order in the AIR ASW contract.

What other roles and projects have you been involved with at ASEC?

I started my ASEC career in Pax River, helping various P-8 projects as an analyst, then I convinced Vinnie to let me come down to Jax where my wife’s parents are and where I spent most of my active-duty Navy time as an S-3 then P-3 “back seater.”

What made you feel that ASEC aligned with your work ethic?

ASEC has always aligned with my work ethic as a company founded by Naval Aviators and Flight Officers who had the same mentality as me. Work hard, play hard.

When you think about where you’d like to go in your career, how does ASEC match up with your aspirations?

I would like to stay with ASEC and keep rising as far as possible! ASEC definitely can make anything happen with hard work and a willingness to take on new responsibility.

Given your military background, how does your position at ASEC allow you to continue using the skills you’ve developed in a civilian career?

My job as a Triton Mission Planner works great with my skill set as a Navigator/Flight Officer because I get to use my flight training and experience in writing mission plans that benefit the squadron and the fleet overall.

If you came across someone at a similar point in their career, or at a similar point to the one you were at, why would you recommend coming to work for ASEC?

I would definitely recommend ASEC because at ASEC you feel like you are a part of a family not a big corporation who doesn’t care about you or your wellbeing.

How do ASEC’s core values resonate with your personal values and work approach?

ASEC’s core values line up with mine. I try and take care of my customer, who is the warfighter, in all that we do and every mission plan we create. We strive to always do what is right no matter what.

Can you share an experience where ‘Being the expert’ was particularly crucial in your role?

Being a Triton Mission Planner we have a very specific set of skills. We are the experts in the Triton Unique Planning Component in JMPS and are looked to as the mission planning experts for the operators and the squadron leans on us to get the right products to the fleet operators to enable success everyday on-station.

‘Be Loyal’ is a key value at ASEC. How do you interpret this, and how has it influenced your decisions or actions at work?

Loyalty is extremely important to me and I feel our team’s loyalty to ASEC and producing an essential mission product for the Navy makes the job enjoyable and you feel like you are a part of a valuable unit.

Can you provide an example where you demonstrated the value of ‘Do what you are saying you are going to do’?

As a mission planner we are doing this constantly in our job. We communicate almost daily with the squadron that we support. We make promises to deliver a product (mission plan) and then we deliver.

What advice would you give to someone new to the company on how to succeed at ASEC?

My advice would be work hard and enjoy meeting the amazing people that ASEC hires. ASEC is about the people. ASEC always hires the best!

Is there anything else you’d like to add about working at ASEC?

ASEC is a great company to work for! I am happy to be here!
